a small change… can make… the big difference
  • Laser versus tumescent liposuction….the differences

When performing liposuction with laser, the laser does selectively brea down fat cells. The advantages for the patient are faster recovery, less irregularities, less pain and overall a better result.

Most importantly, laser liposuction leads to far better and mor even skin retraction than conventional tumescent liposuction.

The amount of fluid in relation to the amount of fat extracted determines into what category the liposuction falls. Should less fluid be injected than fat extracted, then it qualifies as dry, if the other way round, it is superwet.

    Case samples of liposuction

liposuction-marbella-1-before2Patient requested removal of diet resistant fat deposits on outer thighs, flanks and buttocks

Procedure selected was soft touch liposuction under local anetsteic and sedation

liposuction-marbella-1-after3Result after removal of 2200cc of fat in sof touch technique

    Good skin retraction

Overall pleasant change of body contour

    Result 5 months post OP

    Case 2

    liposuction-marbella-beforePatient with good skin quality

    No skin ptosis

Reqeusts body contour correction in lower abdomen and flanks

    liposuction-marbella-after

Result after removal of 1700cc of fat

    Soft touch technique

    Good skin retraction

    Result 3 months post op.

The advantage of laser liposuction technique normally is that there is less pain and bleeding, although oozing of residual injection fluid commonly occurs postoperatively. This is often mistaken for bleeding after the liposuction, but its occurrence is normal and should normally cease within about two days.

Do you do non surgical liposuction and what is the success rate ?

    2. I am not quite quite sure what you refer to when you say non surgical liposuction, there are some ultrasound treatments available, the results of which personally do not find very convincing, or the so called “lipolytic injection” which aims at dissolving fat. I ahv essen cases of uncontrolled and very uneven fat absorption with this and therefore do not use this treatment.

    3. How much fat can I have removed in one session of liposuction ?

    4. This depends on your body weight. Limits for liposuction can be set as percentage of body weight, clinically, by limits of aspiration or as set measures.
The most improtnat concern in planning the procedure is to make clear that liposuction is a body-contouring , and not a weight loss procedure

    5. I have had liposcution 5 months ago. generally I am very happy with the resut, but I am left with a couple of lumps which do not seem to go.
Is there anything that can be done about it ?

    6. I have heard about the risk of fat embolism after liposuction. How frequent is that ? Some surgeons say it is exotic, some seem to suggest it happens quite often and I find that insecuring.

    7. It is possible complication, without any doubt. Though some scientific publications suggest that there is no relation between its occurrence and teh amount of fat removed I very much think this is the case.
